Kick off Spooky Season with Forbidden Newberry at the Newberry Library!
Newberry staff, guests, and curators including Vice President for Collection and Library Services and Curator of Americana, Will Hansen, and Curator of Rare Books and Manuscripts, Dr. Suzanne Karr Schmidt present a handpicked set of Strange Americana and Curious Costumes, bringing us back to haunting moments in American history like the Salem witch trials, and Europe's fashionable seventeenth-century soldiers, respectively. Each ticket ($45) includes entrance to both presentations, two drink tickets, hors d'oeuvres, and access to Halloween activities and entertainment. The Newberry's 27.5 miles of shelves are full of ominous, creepy, and absurd items. This fundraiser helps provide resources so that the library remains free and open to all.
