SUMMARY:Exoneration is a Marathon. Release is Just the Starting Line - An Afternoon of Film\, Conversation\, and Community
DESCRIPTION:The Pruno Fund and Francis W. Parker School invite you to join them for a special afternoon of documentary film and conversation exploring what happens after incarceration - and the extraordinary challenges facing people who must rebuild their lives after years taken from them. The event will take place at the Diane and David B Heller Auditorium\, Francis W. Parker School. 2026 marks the school's 125th year!\n\n\n\nDoors open at 12:30PM - Film Screen begins at 1PM - Panel Discussion at 2:30PM - Reception to follow.\n\n\n\nTHE FILMS:\n\n\n\nTHE SECOND LIFE OF FREDDIE NOLE is a short documentary film that follows Freddie\, a magnetic and deeply compassionate man\, who spends his days meeting newly released citizens at the prison gates\, offering not just a ride but a shot at redemption. The story unfolds over the course of a single day as Freddie\, his wife\, and his friend Steve - the first man he ever picked up - help Ed as he takes his first steps into freedom.\n\n\n\nFilm courtesy of filmmaker Dana Nachman.\n\n\n\nINNOCENCE SHOULD BE ENOUGH: What happens when an innocent person is sentenced to spend their life in prison? Unfortunately\, innocence alone isn't enough to overturn a conviction in Missouri and Kansas. From filmmaker Solomon Shields\, this film examines the shocking flaws in the justice system by highlighting the work of the Midwest Innocence Project and the personal stories of those wrongfully convicted.\n\n\n\nFilm courtesy of Kansas City PBS and Solomon Shields.
