Make a unique Dia de los Muertos shadowbox with Domingo from RIP Repurposed

In this 2 hour workshop, you’ll create your own piece using sustainably sourced specimens, including a monarch butterfly, native milkweed and Mexican marigolds from Patchwork Farms, tiny skulls, dried flowers, and dried milkweed from Domingo’s personal collection.

Choose your own decorative background, get creative, and take your finished shadowbox home at the end of the workshop.

This workshop is for adults 18+ and includes general admission to the Nature Museum and admission to the Judy Istock Butterfly Haven

Meet the Instructor:
Domingo of RIP Repurposed is a Chicago-based artist and educator exploring the intersection of art, ecology, and queer post-mortem practices. Domingo works exclusively with sustainably sourced specimens, some sourced from insect farms that practice reciprocity with the land and communities they come from through ecological restoration and job support for local indigenous communities.

Domingo leads pinning and creative workshops at spaces including The Nature Museum, The Insect Asylum, and queer pop-ups. You can find their RIP Repurposed artwork in the gift-shop at The Insect Asylum and at a queer pop-up near you.
