Name: 80 Years of Canonization - A Call to Stewardship
Date: October 21, 2026
Time: 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
The National Shrine of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini is a Catholic Shrine located in the heart of Lincoln Park. The Shrine is dedicated to the first Amercian Citizen Saint and Universal Patron Saint of Immigrants.

Mother Cabrini founded sixty-seven institutions worldwide with three of them being here in Chicago. Assumption School (1899), Columbus Hospital (1905) and Columbus Hospital Extension (1911) for the City's poor. Led by the Missionary Sisters she founded, these "Three C's" (Columbus, Cabrini, Cunio Hospitals) cared for generations of Chicagoans.

Mother Cabrini lived, worked and died (1917) at Columbus Hospital. Eighty years ago, on July 7, 1946, Pope Pius XII canonized Mother Cabrini. However, canonization did not close Mother Cabrini's story. It's now entrusted to us to continue her legacy.

Join us as we celebrate Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini's enduring legacy, carried forward by the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Our evening's emcee will be Monsignor Kenneth Velo. A silent auction will be available on-line the week leading up to the event.
